TDM have spent the last 3 years supporting other providers to embed technology within their provision. One of the main issues we encounter is that the tutors often do not have the time to create resources, nor the time learn the technology to do so, and often lack the support of a trained technologist to do so. The cost of a trained learning technologist to support tutors is circa £25-30k, and is prohibitive for many providers.
Here at TDM we have a new idea to this problem. The e-learning administrator/learning technologist apprenticeship scheme. The idea is to take on someone (or they can already be working for you) and we will train them up for you as a learning technologist. The training is fully funded at 16-18 year olds, and is part funded for 19+. You would commit to employing them for the duration of the apprenticeship (around 9-12 months) on apprenticeship minimum wages (or higher if you so wish). Your staff get the support they need, at a fraction of the cost of a learning technologist. Furthermore they will be trained by TDM who are specialists in the e-learning sector, and are themselves learning providers with a deep understanding of this sectors needs.
We can offer two types of apprenticeship:
1. IT User : e-Learning administrator (geared at VLE/portfolio administrators, managing users, creating courses and resources etc)
2. ICT Pro: e-Learning Technologist (geared at managing the platforms, security, performing updates and patches, HTML development etc.)
We will tailor the apprenticeship to your organisational needs ensuring that the apprenticeship is trained in the technologies your organisation uses. We can also include more generic units in the apprenticeship if required.
